Golden lotus domes mark the Self-Realization Fellowship grounds on the coast highway in Encinitas. The hermitage on the bluff was completed in 1937 for Paramahansa Yogananda, who wrote much of Autobiography of a Yogi there. The meditation gardens are open to visitors, and the surf break at the foot of the cliff has been known as Swami's ever since.
